The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is a Portuguese institution with public utility whose statutory aims are Art, Charity, Science and Education. Created by testamentary disposition of Calouste Sarkis Gulbenkian, its statutes were approved by the Portuguese State July 18, 1956.

The Foundation has its headquarters in Lisbon. The premises of the Headquarters and Museum, designed by architect Ruy Athouguia, Pedro Cid and Alberto Pessoa, were inaugurated in 1969. Integrate, in addition to the areas set aside for administration and services, a large auditorium, temporary exhibition spaces, a conference area, featuring several auditoriums and classrooms, and a separate building which houses the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, the Museum's educational services and Art Library. The complex is surrounded by the Gulbenkian Park, designed by the architects and Ribeiro Telles Barreto Viana.
